One Year Later and The Jungle is the Only Way Out
2019 was a great year for R&B and music. Throughout the year, artists like Lizzo, SiR, Snoh Aalegra, Ari Lennox, and many others showed us why they deserve a voice in the new age of rhythm and blues. While each of these artists created something worth a post on its own, no one deserves it more than the Sillage Village resident, Mereba.
The Jungle is the Only Way Out is a diamond in the rough.
While many other albums last year seem to take the spotlight in popularity, Mereba quietly released an album that is lyrically better than each of those albums combined. A year later, since the world found out that The Jungle is the Only Way Out, I wanted to take a step back and reminisce about one of my favorite albums of last year.
The Jungle is The Only Way Out (TJTOWO) showcases the magical potential of Spillage Village. The collective, home to other artists such as Earthgang, JID, and 6lack, have been trouncing any competition that comes their way. It only makes sense that Mereba is terrific when it comes to wordplay. Throughout this project, Mereba showcases her poetry-driven mind while making sure that her flow is impeccable.
